Construction job opportunities will be through contractors awarded contracts and subcontractors they employ.  During bidding for each of the construction contracts, a list of plan holders/potential bidders will be posted here with contact information.  The successful bidder to which a construction contract is awarded will also be posted.  Anyone interested in construction employment opportunities is encouraged to contact potential bidders during the bid period or the successful bidder after construction contract award.

Facility Operations and Maintenance Job Opportunities

Qualified staff will be needed to meet the operations and maintenance needs of the Western Wake Regional Wastewater Management Facility.  The Partners will develop a complete staffing plan for the new facility and when completed, it will be posted here – along with specific employment opportunities as they are available.

Job Title

WRF Plant Manager

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, environmental science, chemistry or related field
  • Extensive experience in advanced wastewater treatment plant operations
  • Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license
  • Possession of Wastewater Operator's Grade IV certification, Spray Irrigation Certification, & Land Application Certification from the State Board of Certification

WRF Team Leader

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a community college or technical institute with an associate’s degree in environmental science or related field.
  • Extensive experience managing a treatment facility
  • Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license
  • Possession of Wastewater Operator's Grade IV certification, Spray Irrigation Certification & Land Application Certification from the State Board of Certification

WRF Laboratory Supervisor

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in chemistry, environmental science, biological sciences or related field
  • Considerable experience managing a certified municipal laboratory
  • Ability to meet state laboratory certification criteria
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Possession of Wastewater Operator’s Grade IV certification, Grade II Lab Analyst Certification & Land Application certification from the State Board of Certification

Laboratory Analyst

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in chemistry, environmental science, biological sciences or related field
  • Experience performing laboratory tests, preferably in a treatment plant laboratory
  • Ability to meet state laboratory certification criteria
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Possession of Wastewater Operator’s Grade I certification & Grade I Lab Analyst Certification from the State Board of Certification

WRF Mechanic / Operator I

  • The Utilities Department has established a well-defined career ladder program that provides advancement opportunities for mechanic/operators who demonstrate increasing levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    Minimum entry-level requirements:
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Grade I Biological Wastewater Certification
  • Through their own initiative, employees can progress up the ladder by attaining additional requirements such as advanced education, more complex skill sets, certifications (i.e. Grade II, III, IV Biological Wastewater Certifications) and/or leadership training.

WRF Senior Mechanic / Operator

WRF Master Mechanic / Operator

Electronics Technician II

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a community college or technical institute with an associate’s degree in electronics or related field.
  • Extensive experience in repair, maintenance and programming of electronics and electrical equipment
  • Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license
  • Possession of a valid Journeyman Electrician Certificate of Competency is preferred
